Thrasher Goes on Vacation
Thrasher will be on vacation, off-line and unplugged for a couple of weeks.
Thanks everyone for reading Thrasher's Wheat. Really appreciate all of the feedback, comments, encouragement and suggestions.
Without you, our readers, this site would never have been resurrected. So thanks for all of your support and kind words over the years.
In the meantime, you can still keep up with all of the Neil News using the RSS feeds in the right sidebar. Feeds include RUST, Google Neil News, and Yahoo!News (the Bad News Beat feed was removed because of broken URLs).
It's been a great summer so far. Lots of fun concerts. Here are a few concerts we made this summer that we really enjoyed:
- Bob Dylan & Willie Nelson on the minor league baseball stadium tour in Bowie, Maryland
- Elvis Costello & Emmylou Harris at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA
- Wilco & My Morning Jacket at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia
- Crosby, Stills & Nash at Wolf Trap Center in Vienna, VA
- Lucinda Williams at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC
Before we ship off for destinations unknown, it's interesting to look back on what we've achieved here over the past decade.
According to Alexa, Thrasher's Wheat is ranked as the 335,129 most popular site on the internet.
OK, so big deal, Thrasher, you're thinking. Yes, well, since Google has indexed over 8 billion web pages (8,168,684,336 to be exact), this puts little ol' Thrasher's Wheat in the top 5% of all web pages.
Well, Thrasher found this noteworthy for no other reason than the mother of all-Neil websites, HyperRust is ranked by Alexa at 354,714. Long considered as the definitive Neil-fan site, HyperRust is known as the "oldest and largest on-line community of Neil Young fans, dating back to 1992."
So sometime over the summer, the traffic reach (visitors X page views) of Thrasher's Wheat exceeded that of HyperRust. Not that this is some sort of competition or anything.
Probably even more surprising was how Thrasher's Wheat stacked up against Neil's Garage, Shakey's official website, ranked at 284,074.
(Please note that Alexa has a number of important disclaimers on its traffic data and may not be a representative sample of the global Internet population.)
Not a bad decade, all things considered. But, as we all know, "numbers add up to nothing"...
Happy Summer! See you back in September.
And keep on rockin'!
Lastly, for all of our Nashville friends, dress sharp & Don't Be Denied!
