Anyone know what kind of car hood ornament that is? Looks pretty vintage.

So, and please humor me here- I'm not as encyclopedic in my Neil knowledge as some- when did Chrome Dreams I come out?

At 9/06/2007 09:40:00 PM, Anonymous Simpson said...

Officially, Chrome Dreams I never did come out.

And over on Amazon.com it lists the Chrome Dreams II CD and also a Chrome Dreams II CD/DVD Special Edition. Anyone know anything about this? If there really is a CD/DVD set or just an unoffiicial page made by an Amazon fan?

Probably would feature video of recording the album. I would hope that. But I would rather see the whole songs being recroded like on the PW DVD than just segments like on the LWW DVD. Anyone have any thoughts?

At 9/07/2007 12:44:00 AM, Blogger Greg said...

I agree, Simpson. As cool as the Living With War DVD is, it was a wasted opportunity to release a high-res version of the original album along with video of the 103 musicians recording it. They did such a killer job with the Greendale and Prairie Wind "Sessions" DVDs, yet the LWW DVD doesn't even have high-res audio of the real album (the "raw" version doesn't do much for me). Definitely hoping there were some cameras rolling inside the Car Barn for the Chrome Dreams sessions. Overall, Neil ("Camera A") and L.A. have made some pretty killer DVDs.

hey...anyone notice that Amazon posted the tracklisting of the album?

1. Beautiful Bluebird 3:30
2. Boxcar 3:15
3. Ordinary People 18:13
4. Shining Light 4:33
5. The Believer 2:38
6. Spirit Road 5:01
7. Dirty Old Man 2:52
8. Ever After 3:32
9. No Hidden Path 11:31
10. The Way 5:15

so the two older songs that Neil had been talking about were Boxcar and Ordinary People

Innaresting...

NY Times is reporting that "Ordinary People" goes to radio on Monday 9/10.

BTW, cool cover, Neil.

I wonder if the opening track "Beautiful Bluebird" is the same song from the Old Ways time frame???

Did you notice that the title (Chromes Dreams II and Neil Young) on this cover looks a bit faded?

At 9/07/2007 03:24:00 PM, Anonymous jego said...

i could be wrong, but i think the titles (chrome dreams II and neil young) are supposed to look as if they're written on a dirty windshield using a finger (like "wash me").

does anyone know when tickets go on sale for the oct 22 show at keller audiorium in portland?

One might think with the title "Chrome Dreams" that the cover would be sort of shiny looking. But no. Instead we have something that looks vaguely rusty, shall we say.

This is the Let's-Get-Pegi-A-Career album and tour. Dig up half an album of unreleased songs, write a few 3-minute wonders, get it together for one new long jam song and call it an album. Rush it out and get on the road so Pegi can be the opening act. Never mind that her songs bite. No need for her to actually work at it. Everyone will be in a newNeilalbumandintimatetour
fog of bliss.

Over on NY Times it says that OP is "rumoured that I-Tunes may initially offer the extended track as part of a Chrome Dreams II album pre-order."

Does anyone find it ironic that the official Neil news site publishes rumors? Or is Neil just getting some laughs?

At 9/07/2007 06:34:00 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hey, at least she won't be singing back-up on the tour.

At 9/08/2007 02:57:00 AM, Blogger Veg said...

Sorry to be rude, but where do you get off thinking Pegi is going to open for Neil or even participate on this tour? Do you have any information? Sources? Anything beyond your own cynical predictions?

Oh, what's that, no? Ok, just checking. Go troll elsewhere.

Regarding the comment about the concert on October 22, I don't see it listed on the Keller Auditorium schedule.
I've seen it listed in other sites.

Does anyone have any info on that? Would you share if you know how I can get tickets to that event.

I've checked lots of sites for tour info and just must be out of the loop.

I am thouroughly confused about the Pegi comments and the level of vitriol associated with your comments. Even if Pegi were awash in talent and had a burgeoning career she would always be hamstrung with being Neil's wife and subject to the crap you are writing. I think you are wrong, but if Neil wants her to open - who cares. The idea that Neil is hatching an album and tour to pump up Pegi is ludicrous at best. The last time I checked dusting off three old songs and sticking them on a record is something Neil has done on virtually every release for thirty years. Ordinary People will be phenomenal and the handful of 3 minute ditty's - bring em on. I can think of about 87 3 minute dittys that are absolutely beautiful!

Do me a favor - dump out the urine soaked corn flakes and pour yourself a new bowl!

I'm pumped for this expanded version of Ordinary People. Think he added some new verses, or maybe just a really long guitar solo?

On Rolling Stone.com they have a picture of Neil on the new album section and he's using a new guitar that I've never seen before. Can anyone tell me what it is.You can tell it's a new picture because you can see the holes with the wood chips on the floor, and he mentioned that in the interview about the garage they recorded the album in.p.s,If you said that stuff about Pegi to Neils face,I'll bet he would bitch slap you like the little trick you are.Im also willing to bet your girlfriend/wife can't even spell a sentence right, much less play guitar and write an album.

This thing is going to be fabulous. I'm from Finland and I've seen Neil all three times he's visited us here. I'm a record collector and to me the best are Mr. Soul and Led Zeppelin.

...And a further thing to be said. The likes of Neil are to me Gene Clark and Roy Harper. Just excited to get my message through. :)

The guitar in that picture is a hagstrom. I have never seen one that looked like that, but thats what they are.

Hagstroms are swedish guitars that enjoyed some popularity in the late sixties through the seventies. I believe they went out of business in the late 1970's or early 80's. They are really cool guitars.

Also the tour dates have been announced on reprise's website.

WXPN in Phila played it during the noon hour!

Bummer to see the ticket prices are so high on ticketmaster.com. That combined with the B.S. bonus CDs at different outlets is pretty annoying. He used to be a champion of keeping costs down for fans/consumers. That doesn't seem to be the M.O. anymore.

Oh well...I'm still going to get the album and check out the show. It's just too bad his business side is running this way now.

Thrasher: Could you put a link up to the CD/DVD Special Edition Chrome Dreams II at amazon? I'm never sure if credit is given if I move away from the original page.

Bought tickets yesterday for both the Portland and Seatlle shows. Little trip from BC to see Neil again. The Seattle tickets are right up front. Can't wait for the shows and to receive my free copy of the new CD.
