Hello Rusties,

it was an amazing evening (after 6 hours by train) in the Arena of Leipzig. As the rain started they opened the hall, I managed to stand directly in front of Neil, second row.

It was a very powerful first half with "Love and only Love", "Hey Hey" (my all-time favorite) and "Watchtower", to name just my personal highlights. "Watchtower" was almost metaphysical. "Spirit road" (which was started twice...) was powerful, too. After "Watchtower" Neil seemed to be a little exhausted, no wonder, but then came the slower part. "Words" and a surprising "Winterlong", great. "Heart of Gold" was as fresh as ever. "No Hidden Path" took 22 minutes.

Neil was in good shape, did hard working rock n roll, amazing energy. He said not very much but that he liked being here. The band was also in good form. Of course some songs didnt have the strength of Crazy Horse, but there is no reason to complain. What a good time being there!

Dont miss this tour!

Keep on rockin!

Rudy

Saw Neil in Werchter, will see him friday in Weert.
I agree, crazy Horse sounds stronger, but with Ben keith, Rick Rosas and Chad Cromwell, you got better musicians. So, IMHO, if it doesn't sound stronger, it sure sounds better.

What a pity he did not play Winterlong at Werchter.

Dear Rusties,

below I post the brief newspaper concert review of the Leipzig gig as it was online on the homepage of the "Leipziger Volkszeitung". This will be temporary, so I copy the article. Nice critique, only the lenghty "No Hidden Path" was thought to be too long. 9000 people were listening.

And here you can find 5 photos of the newspaper by Wolfgang Zeyen:

Nice shots.

Keep on rockin'

Niemals stirbt der Rock'n'Roll - Neil Young begeistert 9000 Fans in der Arena Leipzig

Leipzig. Unendlich. Immer wieder und wieder und wieder. So werden Songs zum Marathon.
"Love And Only Love". Neil Young im roten Lichtkegel. Viel braucht er nicht. Band, ein bisschen Licht, Gitarre, Mundharmonika. Keine Videowand. Keine Bildschirme.

"Get Back To The Country".

Hi everyone,

AMAZING show in Leipzig! Everybody was waiting for Neil and when he finally appeared with "Love And Only Love" people went nuts.
My My Hey Hey, which I don't listen to that much anymore (I just heard it so many times) was surprisingly fresh in this live version, the energy of all the people singing along was high, like in a football stadium. Followed by 2 Songs from "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" and Spirit Road, one outstanding song from his latest album, I had already heard enough to consider this one of the best shows I've ever been to. Then, All Along The Watchtower: just GREAT. I'm a huge Dylan freak, so that made my day :) The Acoustic set including Oh lonesome Me, the timeless Mother Earth (which is now more applicable than by the time it's been recorded), the classics The Needle And The Damage Done, Heart Of Gold, Old Man and Unknow Legend... just perfect. They picked up the electric guitars again to continue rocking through the set into the final and endless No Hidden Path, in my opinion the second very outstanding song on Chrome Dreams II. The Beatles Cover A Day In The Life finished the amazing evening. Neil rose above all my expectations: really just amazing.
