Thinkin' Lincoln: A Roundup
Last week, Neil Young showcased Linc-Volt at the Dreamforce Conference in San Francisco, CA.
When the conference announcement was made earlier, many of us were trying to figure out why a conference for sales software? It turns out that Salesforce.com software is powering Linc-Volt's on-board systems.
A new website has debuted at http://lincvolt.force.com/ which tracks all of Linc-Volt's vital signs. Also, see the site Mileage Quest.
Here's a ABC News report.
The LincVolt webpage update is State of Lincvolt7. As B.S.M. notes, the update uses "Mustang" as a soundtrack. Consider this an Archives preview. Very cool Shakey Pix!
Webcast of LincVolt presentation with Neil at Dreamforce LincVolt webcast. Select dropdown menu and go to "Marc Benioff/Neil Young/closing". This is EXCELLENT.
Here's a blog of Neil's drive to Shoreline for the Bridge concert.
Neil Young Works to Make a Lincoln Continental Run on Clean Fuel - NYTimes.com
At the Sun Microsystems campus in Menlo Park, CA., Neil Young shows James Gosling, the father of Java technology, the Linc Volt - a classic 1959 Lincoln Continental Mk IV re-powered with a new series-hybrid system that runs on electricity produced by a natural gas generator. For the past 14 months, Young has been working on Linc Volt (http://www.lincvolt.com/), his entry into the X Automotive PRIZE (http://www.progressiveautoxprize.org/). The Linc Volt features installed sensors, which are powered by Java technology from Sun Microsystems, that monitor the performance of the Linc Volt and display the data on a touch-screen panel in the car. Visit http://java.com to learn more on how Java technology is helping to revolutionize the way we look at cars through the Linc Volt project.
