The following page is one of a series of posts to the Neil Young mailing list Rust on the amazing August 2005 concerts at the original Grand Ol Opry historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. The series reveals the pure ethic of a Neil Young fan: "Don't Be Denied!" Here are Rustie John Duncan's exhaustive tales from Nashville in 10 parts.

Postcard from Nashville Pt 5 Mission accomplished
Welcome to weirdest most spontaneous International Rustfest ever.
The venue? Wendys in Smyrna, nr Nashville on 223 Dean Scranton
Parkway (or something like that). How did it happen? Well the story
starts this morning on our way to the 105 Rock radio station for
Operation Prairie Rust. Our ticket pursuit vehicle Rental One takes
a call from Brigadier Brax who says he has managed to get an inside
track on where the Rock Hummer is going to be and it's in a place
called Smyrna which is 21 miles outside of Nashville. With a car
full of military grade Rusties, Rust One swings into action, piloted
by Mike Cordoba heads for I45E with 20 minutes to the 12 o'clock
when the venue will be announced to civilians.
20 minutes later we overshoot the target only narrowly avoiding
civilian casualties when Mike decides to skip a red light and swing
a U turn on the freeway. So we get to the Wendy's car-park and three
of us immediately de-car and run in to the Wendy's, egged on by Brax
the kind Rustie who helped us make it on time with his impeccable
intel. Mike parks the car. The forward insertion Rusties are already
in the restarant and the nice ladies give us a couple of tickets
each. Thank you, we say, in unison, just as our training had taught
us. Mike comes panting through the door. The tickets are running out
fast, even though it's only about 1 minute past 12. There are non
Rusties, actual real innocent civilians, in the way. Mike is almost
in slow motion he lurches towards the Rock Hummer 105 Girls; they
retreat a step, look him up and down with fear plainly in their eyes
and give him a pair too. We're all in for tonight and actually have
some spares. We count all the Rusties into Wendy's. The Dutch
division make it in time. CVG present and correct sir. Tom Hambleton
is there too with Andy, or as Tom would put it

Brax has already De-Wendyed and returned to base. All told we

distribution. Fine work soldiers. I have a operational photo of the
Wendy's Fest and I'll try and upload.. over and out (for now)
