In 2004 Rustie, Mike "Expecting 2 Fly" Cordova posted a series of articles on his experience listening to all of Neil Young's albums in chronological order. Here is one in the series. For a complete listing, see Albums in Order reviews.
Date: Sun, 28 Nov 2004 14:51:36 -0800 (PST) Neil's music has, over the years, been put to use in a lot of movies. Of course, there were his own movies JTTP and Human Highway, but there were also pictures such as Made In Heaven which featured Neil's song We Never Danced and the more recent Philadelphia which featured Neil's Oscar-nominated song of the same name. There was in 1980 a soundtrack album which featured songs by various artists such as the Temptations and Creedence Clearwater Revival plus some musical variations by Neil based on the song Home, Home On The Range for a movie about Hunter S. Thompson called Where The Buffalo Roam.
The Dead Man soundtrack, released on Vapor Records, was Neil's original music plus some dialog by actors in the Jim Jarmusch film. Despite not being incredibly musically interesting and not containing the most compelling musical piece by in the film (the acoustic/electric piece that opens the movie), it does occasionally feature some inspired moments. And for that reason, I very much enjoyed listening to the Dead Man soundtrack today.
